What exactly is microdermabrasion? This treatment is a mechanical skin peeling without chemical agents. It gently removes dead skin cells, increases blood circulation and stimulates skin regeneration. The result is fresher and younger looking skin. You can therefore think of microdermabrasion at AIVA in Berlin as a refreshing treatment for your skin, which can remove impurities and give tired skin a radiant, rejuvenated appearance.
During the procedure, the top layer of skin is removed using a diamond grinding attachment, while a vacuum/pressurised air system sucks away the removed particles. This process may sound scary, but it does not hurt at all – in fact, the gentle nature of the treatment makes it very suitable for sensitive skin. As well as exfoliating, the non-invasive procedure stimulates the production of elastin, collagen and new skin cells and repairs damaged tissue. Microdermabrasion is frequently used at our institute in Berlin to treat facial and décolleté blemishes, acne, scars, pigmentation disorders and wrinkles. However, treatment on other areas of the body like the back is also possible.
The frequency of treatments depends on a number of factors including your skin type, the severity of the imperfections and the desired effect. Regular treatments are recommended for long-lasting results. In our experience, it is best to have a microdermabrasion treatment every four weeks at our institute in Berlin. This way, we achieve a continuous and lasting improvement in the appearance of the skin.
Microdermabrasion is suitable for many different skin types and skin conditions. At AIVA in Berlin, we use it to refine the appearance of the skin, to treat wrinkles, pigmentation and age spots and to reduce scars, among other things. It can also be used to treat stretch marks, keratinisation and unevenness. In some cases, however, we advise against microdermabrasion, for example if you suffer from active skin infections, fresh wounds, warts or inflammation. We will discuss with you in a personal consultation whether the procedure is appropriate for you, or whether you should consider alternatives.
Some side effects may occur during treatment. These include mild skin irritation – similar to sunburn – such as redness, itching and flaking. Acne can also temporarily worsen immediately after treatment, as microdermabrasion cleanses the pores and can release bacteria. People with darker skin may also experience temporary light-coloured spots. However, once the skin has had time to heal, these side effects usually disappear.
After the treatment, a rich moisturiser helps to soothe and moisturise the skin. A high sun protection factor (SPF 50) is also important to protect the skin from UV rays. You should avoid using irritating creams or serums, especially in the first few days after treatment. Instead, use mild and nourishing products – we will be happy to advise you on your choice.
The cost of microdermabrasion at AIVA in Berlin starts at €160 per session. The exact price may vary depending on the extent of the treatment. You will be given precise details during your consultation.
